Sadaf Kassam

I am a registered nurse, educator, and researcher, currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Nursing. My doctoral research focuses on Exploring the Hospitalization Experiences of Ethno-Racial Older Adults with Dementia and Their Care Partners.

Since 2023, I have been a voluntary research assistant with Dr. Lillian Hung, contributing to a scoping review on Facilitators and Barriers to Co-Designing Social Robots with Older Adults Living with Dementia. Through this work, I am building expertise in dementia research, technology use, artificial intelligence, robotics, and the development of community resources for underserved and marginalized populations.

I am deeply committed to using patient-oriented and community-engaged research approaches to improve the quality of care for older adults living with dementia and their caregivers in healthcare settings, including hospitals and community care. Upon completing my PhD, I aspire to lead interdisciplinary research and advocacy initiatives to enhance dementia care both in Canada and globally.

Outside of my academic work, I enjoy reading, walking, cooking, and spending time with my son.
