The UBC IDEA Lab proudly participated in the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) Annual Scientific Meeting 2024 in Seattle, USA (GSA 2024). This premier international event brought together global leaders in older adult research, and our team was honoured to present our collaborative, patient-oriented, inclusive, innovative research work through oral and poster presentations.

Oral Presentations

Our oral presentations highlighted interdisciplinary approaches and collaborative research efforts:

  • Feasibility and Acceptability of Implementing an AI-Enabled Service Robot in Long-Term Care
  • Co-Creating a Virtual Reality Program in Hospital With Patient and Family Partners and Staff for Older Adults With Dementia
  • Co-Creating a Virtual Reality Program With People Living With Dementia in Long-Term Care
  • A Reflection of a Student-Led Virtual Reality Adoption Program for People Living With Dementia in Long-Term Care

Poster Presentations

Our poster presentations explored practical innovations in care delivery and community engagement:

  • Exploring Bed Sensor Sleep Tech: Insights From Interdisciplinary Team in a Geriatric Assessment Inpatient Setting
  • Family Experience in Using Telepresence Robots With Residents in Long-Term Care
  • Intergenerational Silent Disco Parties for Older Adults Living in Long-Term Care

This participation reflects the collaborative efforts of our lab’s researchers, patient and family partners, students and supporting organizations in translating research into meaningful practices that enhance the quality of life for older adults. Thank you to our researchers, patient partners, and collaborators for making this a resounding success.

Let’s share the meaningful moments at GSA 2024…
