Interdisciplinary Conference in Rehabilitation Science of BC (INCREASE BC) 2024
We’re excited to share the fruitful experiences of UBC IDEA Lab at this year’s Interdisciplinary Conference in Rehabilitation Science of BC (INCREASE BC) (April 2024). Dr. Lillian Hung shared a compelling keynote:
“‘Empowering Care: Bridging Technology and Compassion in Transdisciplinary Collaboration,” discussing the transformative impact of technology and team-based collaboration on care of older people. Her insights remind us of the deep human connection, intergenerational interaction and inclusive collaboration at the heart of our research.
We shared our Student-Led Innovations, too:
- Advancing Virtual Team-Based Care for Care Transitions by Ian Chan: Focused on improving team-based virtual care for older adults during care transition through the lens of patients, families, healthcare professionals and policymakers.
- Implementing a Collaborative Service Robot in Long-Term Care by Lily Haopu Ren: Examining how service robots can be integrated to assist staff and enhance person-centred care in long-term facilities.
- Virtual Reality (VR) for Dementia Care by Joey Wong: Using virtual reality to create meaningful experiences for those living with dementia.
- Innovative Use of Silent Disco Headphones in Long-Term Care by May May Li and Yumi Wong: Bringing joy and connection to our older people through music, using silent disco headphones to overcome noise challenges.
These projects were made possible thanks to our partners’ support and collaboration. We’re truly grateful for the opportunity to engage with the community at INCREASE BC 2024 and share our journey in advancing healthcare innovation.
