Yayan Ye

Yayan is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, where she earned an Honors Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Magna Cum Laude distinction. Throughout her undergraduate studies, her passion for enhancing the quality of life for older adults through the use of technology was ignited. Collaborating with peers, she spearheaded a project centered around utilizing wearable sensors for risk assessment, specifically implementing the Quantitative Timed Up and Go (QTUG) method. She focused on the geriatric population participating in the “Fall Activities” program at the Carlington Community Health Centre, supported by the City of Ottawa. During her undergraduate years, she was honored to be included in the Dean’s Honors List, recognizing her academic excellence and commitment to her studies.


Following graduation, Yayan committed herself to a career as a Registered Nurse in Radiation Oncology at the Ottawa Hospital. This role further deepened her dedication to improving the life quality of geriatric individuals facing chronic illnesses. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Nursing Science degree at UBC, driven by her aspiration to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner in the future.


Currently, Yayan is a Registered Nurse at the STAT Centre within UBC Hospital. Additionally, she is actively engaged in the “SleepSense” project conducted by the IDEA Lab and STAT Centre, aligning with her ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative research and practice.
