Students and AI in Academia: Exploring Students’ Perspectives on the Use of AI-Enabled Services, such as ChatGPT, in Academia
Students and AI in Academia:
As AI services grow increasingly popular, AI may provide opportunities to both enhance learning and introduce risks to the learning process.
One of the most popular AI-enabled tools is ChatGPT, which is a language model developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT has been used to support creative writing and essay writing, as well as answer questions.
This study investigates student perspectives towards using AI-enabled services, such as ChatGPT, to support their academic work. By understanding student opinions on the potential benefits, challenges, and concerns surrounding the usage of AI-enabled tools in academics, this project will offer much-needed student-centred insights to inform future education, policy, and research.
This study just received ethics approval and will soon start its data collection.
