In a quest for holistic well-being, our lab recently embarked on a Tai Chi journey led by Halcyon, a visiting international research student from China. Against the backdrop of UBC Hospital, an afternoon session unfolded, highlighting the graceful convergence of mind and body.
With expertise and grace, Halcyon introduced us to the art of Tai Chi through five symbolic animal flows: the powerful tiger, the graceful deer, the resilient bear, the agile monkey, and the free-spirited bird. The ambiance of the hospital grounds only deepened our connection to this ancient practice.
This experience not only enriched our understanding of mindful movement but also fostered a sense of camaraderie as we ventured on this shared exploration. We are grateful for Halcyon’s guidance and the opportunity to integrate wellness into our lab’s journey. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore avenues that nurture both our academic pursuits and our holistic growth.
