GPA Workshop

GPA Workshop

Today (06/30/22) Dr. Lillian Hung held a Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) workshop at Vancouver General Hospital.

What is GPA?

GPA is an innovative dementia care education curriculum based on a person-centred care approach. Designed for interdisciplinary point of care staff across healthcare sectors, GPA is delivered as four modules over a 7.5-hour day. GPA workshop focuses on four key areas: personhood, brain and behaviour, the interpersonal environment, and gentle persuasive techniques. It is evidence-based, interactive and practical.

Today is an exciting day and we are grateful for every participant who contributed to the class with active engagement, rich discussion and touching stories shared.

What are the benefits of attending a GPA training workshop?

The benefits are that it equipped staff with practical (real-life) strategies for responding with confidence to the behaviours associated with dementia, and it enhances their quality of care to clients.
