Grace Hu
Hi! My name is Grace and I am a fourth-year UBC student majoring in Physiology and Immunology and minoring in Health and Society.
My interest in geriatric care first stemmed from volunteering at local retirement homes! Through playing the piano for seniors and keeping them company, I learned of the ways in which music has impacted their lives and supported their wellbeing. Their stories were so rich in meaning and inspired my curiosity towards qualitative research that works to center the voices of the populations we hope to serve. Thus, I was eager to get involved in this lab, which demonstrates a patient-oriented perspective on research. I am excited to learn more about the lived experiences of seniors living in the communities around me. I would really like to learn how their narratives can help shape research and produce findings that may be better able to optimize the wellbeing and health of the larger senior community.
Outside of academics, I really enjoy hiking, creating pottery pieces (UBC has a pottery club!), and reading!
