Mario Gregorio
Mario Gregorio became an advocate for people living with dementia after he was diagnosed with the disease, also known as Vascular Neurocognitive Disorder, in 2008. He is passionate about raising awareness, reducing stigma, and educating the public about dementia.
Mario mentors research students from various Canadian universities. These students focus on using digital technology to reduce loneliness and build social connections for older adults with dementia. Mario believes that by speaking out about dementia, he can give people hope and show that it is possible to live well after a diagnosis.
He promotes the acronym LISA, which stands for Lifestyle Innovations and Social Activities, to encourage older adults to take charge of their daily activities.
