Erika Young

Erika is a graduate student in the Master’s of Health Leadership and Policy Program in Seniors Care. With a background in Recreation Therapy, her area of focus is on inclusivity and a strengths-based approach in person-centered care. Erika is passionate about collaborating with other professionals to create an environment of equal opportunity for vulnerable populations with the goal of improving psychosocial wellbeing and overall quality of life. Her areas of interest and research include aspects of psychosocial well-being and the ways in which it correlates to positive health outcomes through understanding the importance of individualized, meaningful interactions in a healthcare setting.

Erika enjoys streaming her favourite shows, going outside to take in the beauty of nature and would be quite amiss if she didn’t get her daily morning coffee!

In the future, Erika aspires to challenge herself to take on opportunities that are out for her comfort zone. She hopes to be part of the system of change, especially after the experiences through the COVID-19 pandemic.
